HSE Counsel is committed to ensuring that all learners, clients, and participants are treated fairly, consistently, and with respect throughout their engagement with our training, assessment, consultancy, and advisory services. We recognise that learners have the right to appeal decisions where they believe an outcome has been reached unfairly, incorrectly, or without appropriate consideration.

Learners may submit an appeal relating to course assessments, examination results, assignment decisions, certification outcomes, reasonable adjustments, or any aspect of the learning and assessment process where they believe there are valid grounds for review. Appeals should be submitted promptly and in writing, clearly outlining the reason for the appeal and providing any supporting evidence or relevant information.

All appeals will be acknowledged within a reasonable timeframe and reviewed objectively by an appropriate member of HSE Counsel who was not directly involved in the original decision, where practicable. The review process will consider the information provided, relevant assessment criteria, course requirements, and applicable policies to ensure a fair and consistent outcome.

Following investigation, HSE Counsel will communicate the outcome of the appeal and any actions to be taken. Possible outcomes may include confirmation of the original decision, a reassessment or review of submitted work, additional guidance or support, or other appropriate corrective action. Decisions will be made in accordance with HSE Counsel’s policies, course requirements and contractual commitments.

Learners are expected to provide accurate information, cooperate with the review process, and raise appeals in good faith. While HSE Counsel will make every effort to ensure appeals are handled fairly and transparently, the final decision will remain with HSE Counsel following completion of the review process.

This Appeals Policy applies to all HSE Counsel training courses, assessments, and related services and forms part of our commitment to maintaining quality, integrity, and continuous improvement.
