Internship Overview

HSE Counsel is offering an internship opportunity for a motivated individual to support a consultancy project focused on building sustainability and energy-efficient buildings, with a strong emphasis on integrating Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) considerations into sustainable building design and operation.

The role involves research and analytical support to help bridge the gap between academic research and real-world industry application. The intern will contribute to developing informed, evidence-based insights and recommendations that reflect both sustainability performance and safety standards in the built environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on sustainable and energy-efficient building practices.
  • Analyse the relationship between building sustainability and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) principles.
  • Review industry standards, regulations, academic studies, and technical guidance.
  • Summarise research findings into clear reports and presentations.
  • Support the development of consultancy insights and recommendations.
  • Assist in identifying innovative approaches that bridge research and industry practice.
  • Collaborate remotely with the consultancy team and attend virtual discussions when required.

 

Candidate Requirements

Education

  • Currently studying or recently graduated in:
    • Environmental Sciences
    • Environmental Management
    • Sustainability
    • or a related discipline

Mandatory Qualification

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, ProQual, or equivalent)

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong interest in sustainability, energy-efficient buildings, and HSE integration
  • Good research, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong written communication and report writing ability
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn
