Fire Prevention and Safety Measures
Fire Prevention and Safety Measures
Preventing fires is the primary objective for Fire Wardens. Effective fire prevention involves both environmental controls and behavioural strategies that minimise risk.
Key Prevention Measures Include:
Keeping work areas clean, removing unnecessary combustible materials, and storing flammable substances safely.
Regular inspection of appliances, ensuring safe use of electrical equipment, and reporting faults promptly.
Ensuring that smoke alarms, heat detectors, and fire alarm systems are operational, regularly tested, and maintained.
Familiarity with fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire blankets, and sprinkler systems. Fire Wardens must know the correct use and limitations of equipment.
Educating employees about safe practices, such as proper use of electrical appliances, no smoking policies, and correct handling of flammable substances.
Fire Wardens play an active role in monitoring, advising, and reinforcing these prevention measures. By reducing potential ignition sources and ensuring control measures are in place, Fire Wardens help create a safer workplace and minimise the likelihood of fire incidents.
